Real Marina Thread: From the Bourbon Royal Navy to Modern Workshops

A new line of professional threads with 290 years of tradition behind it

In 1734, Charles of Bourbon founded the Royal Navy of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies. The sails and nautical equipment of that fleet required threads capable of withstanding fierce winds, violent waves, and corrosive salt spray.

Neapolitan and Sicilian artisans developed spinning techniques that guaranteed that strength. Knowledge passed down through generations.

From Sea to Workshop

Today TAN Company brings that tradition to leather goods and footwear workshops with Real Marina Thread: three lines of professional 100% waxed polyester threads, Made in Italy.

The Three Lines

Sheets & Halyards – Professional waxed for hand stitching
Full Speed Ahead – Semi-waxed braid for sewing machines
Tenax – High tenacity for intensive production

Made in Italy Since 1902

The same dedication to quality that has made TAN Company a reference point for leatherworkers and shoemakers for over a century.
